hi, i'm amy.
i've been wanting to continue blogging for quite a while, but couldn't gather enough courage to dust off my previous sites that i littered all over the internet. but that changes this year, right now.
so, to inaugurate this new space of mine, i wanted to share a set of goals that i have given myself this 2026, alongside a reason why i decided to undertake them:
1. limit my social media consumption
i use social media a lot. mainly to keep myself informed of any of my friends' shenanigans or whatever happens on the other side of the world
however, the feeds that i have curated often give me negative and toxic posts, and even though i've purged through what i thought were the cause of the issue, i got more. so, in the end i gave up on curating my feeds, opting to ignore those posts as much as possible.
but sometimes curiosity takes the better of me and end up getting frustrated at non issues that aren't even worth my time.
so my plan is to limit from where and when i consume my information, by curating an rss feed of people and news sites i deem important and by just using social media less (via time limits on my devices)
it is not the best idea, but it still worth a shot i think.
2. get a job
pretty self-explanatory. even though i already work part-time for my father's company, i am not happy with that job at all.
it is extremely exhausting, both physically and mentally, and i always end up like a lifeless husk, devoid of life at the end of the shift.
so this year i will do my best to find a job in the programming space, to have a change of scenery and to give myself more opportunities later on.
3. pass more quality time with my loved ones
this is a bit of a personal one, but one i recommend you (the reader) have on your bucket list as well, especially if you are an introvert like yours truly
4. build more software in the open! (and finish it!!)
i have had a tendency of building software that i never finish, either due to a lack of interest or scope creep.
but it's about time i complete at least some of the software that i started last year, codehub being my latest example.
and this also includes open source contributions, by the way! i'll definitely not stop making PRs to my favourite projects <3
and that's about it, really.
there is no point in making your new year's resolutions list extremely long, especially if you know that you are probably not going to meet all of your goals at the end of the year. so having a smaller, more focused scope can help you get through this 2026 on the right track.
do expect more of these kind of posts in the coming months, maybe with more capitalizated words. i do not have anything specific in mind for this blog, but maybe by the time i think of something, it will be at least a little bit more lively.
thanks for reading!
